Report: Cops among worst speeders; , Sun Sentinel investigation finds..
By Sally Kestin and John Maines, Sun Sentinel
7:58 p.m. EST, February 11, 2012 We've all seen it, and now there's proof: Police officers sworn to uphold our traffic laws are among the worst speeders on South Florida roads.
A three-month Sun Sentinel investigation found almost 800 cops from a dozen agencies driving 90 to 130 mph on our highways.
Many weren't even on duty — they were commuting to and from work in their take-home patrol cars.
The extent of the problem uncovered by the newspaper shocked South Florida's police brass. All the agencies started internal investigations.
"Excessive speed," Margate Police Chief Jerry Blough warned his officers, is a "blatant violation of public trust."
The evidence came from police SunPass toll records. The Sun Sentinel obtained a year's worth, hit the highways with a GPS device and figured out how fast the cops were driving based on the distance and time it took to go from one toll plaza to the next.
Speeding cops can kill. Since 2004, Florida officers exceeding the speed limit have caused at least 320 crashes and 19 deaths. Only one officer went to jail — for 60 days.
A cop with a history of on-the-job wrecks smashed into South Florida college student Erskin Bell Jr. as he waited at a red light in Central Florida three years ago, hitting him at 104 mph. Bell is now severely brain-damaged.
"Every day, you pray for a miracle,'' said his father, Erskin Bell Sr. "Had this officer's behavior been dealt with, maybe he would not have run into our son.''
Law enforcement officers have been notoriously reluctant to stop their own for speeding, and the criminal justice system has proven no tougher at punishing lead-foot cops, records show.
That sense of impunity infuriates many Floridians. Those concerns erupted in October, when a state trooper clocked Miami Police Officer Fausto Lopez driving 120 mph through Broward County on his way to a moonlighting job.
"They think that they have carte blanche. Who's going to catch them? Who's going to do anything about it?" said state Sen. Steve Oelrich, a Gainesville Republican and former sheriff.
"Something needs to be done."
It's hard to drive more than a few days on Florida's Turnpike or Interstate 95 without witnessing a squad car from a different city rocket by in the fast lane. But just how many cops were flooring it, and how often, remained a mystery — until now.
The Sun Sentinel uncovered the answers by digging into the officers' toll records. The findings:
• 793 transponders assigned to police agencies from Miami-Dade to Palm Beach counties showed evidence of speeding — and habitual speeding by some officers.
• One out of five police cars hit speeds above 90 mph.
• Total high-speed incidents: 5,100 in a 13-month period.
• Most of the high speeds — 96 percent — were between 90 and 110 mph.

Though they can be effectively countered, bible contrarians can make arguments for much of bible prophecy already being fulfilled at least once in its vast history, but they can't touch this one.

www.haaretz.com/news/middle-east/report-top-iran-military-official-aiding-assad-s-crackdown-on-syria-opposition-1.411402Report: Top Iran military official aiding Assad's crackdown on Syria opposition
Prominent Syrian lawmaker says the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's elite Quds Force has recently arrived in the country to help manage Assad's regime brutal suppression of a 11-month-long popular unrest. By Zvi Bar'el Tags: Syria Arab Spring Bashar Assad Iran
A top Iranian military official is activily aiding the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad in suppressing popular unrest throughout the country, a top member of the National Syrian Council said on Monday.
According to the Syrian official, Kassam Salimani, commander of the Quds Force, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard special forces unit, has arrived in Syria recently and has taken up a spot in the war room which manages army maneuvers against opposition forces. Syria homs - AP - 30.1.2012

The war room is also reportedly populated by Assad himself, as well as his brother Maher, brother-in-law Assaf Shaukat and cousin Rami Makhlouf, with the Syrian chief of staff's authority reportedly restricted and divided up between other military commanders.
The Quds Force includes 15,000 elite soldiers who operated, among other locations, in Iraq during the war, and the specialty of which is engaging in unconventional warfare on foreign soil. Among other duties, the Quds Force is in charge of traning and funding Hezbollah.
Salimani's presence in Syria serves as an indication of the kind of battle that Assad is planning against opposition forces, with the Syrian army reportedly planning to wage all out war against the rebel city of Homs.
According to the report, the Syrian president's goal is to gain ground ahead of a planned visit by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who will be arriving in the country along with a military delegation which includes the head of Russian intelligence.
Assad's aim, sources say, is to display his control of the situation and his ability to suppress the unrest, with the determining battles to be staged in Homs and in the reoccupation of the town of Zabadani, which fell to Free Syria Army forces.
An Al-Arabiya report indicated that the battle over Zabadani has already begun, with Syrian soldiers defecting to the opposition along with eight tanks, and that Homs has been placed under a siege which has included the cutting of electricity and water supplies.
The report also claimed that the Syrian army for the first time has been using rockets in order to target houses as well as mortars to hit populated areas. So far, 60 people were reportedly killed and hundreds wounded in this battle, as well as reports of the demolition of seven houses, residents and all.
Syrian opposition organizations that are active internationally are currently trying to gain a political front bypassing the UN Security Council, where a resolution underwritten by the Arab League failed due to Russian and Chinese vetoes on Saturday.
At this stage, opposition leaders are trying to find a way forward, as it is clear that Turkey and the Arab states oppose military action against the Assad regime, and the imposing of economic sanctions will not stop Assad.
Facing Russia and Chinese opposition, and the Iranian threat to open a new front, there is doubt whether a western coalition will agree to act directly against Syria. The question is whether the Free Syrian Army will be able to get additional military assistance, and to arm itself with heavy artillery, tanks and shells so that it will be able to pose a real challenge to the Syrian army, and change the civilian resistance into a real military struggle, much like the rebel forces in Libya.
Along with the Syria Free Army’s attempts to increase the number of defectors from the Syrian military, the opposition is also considering offering the minority Alawite elite guarantees of their safety in exchange for ordering Alawites to leave the regime and join the civilian resistance.
Along with the Syria Free Army’s attempts to increase the number of defectors from the Syrian military, the opposition is also considering offering the minority Alawite elite guarantees of their safety in exchange for ordering Alawites to leave the regime and join the civilian resistance.
Parallel to these efforts, however, the opposition seems to be facing a new and violent civilian group that is comprised mainly of Syria’s Kurdish minority. This group is working as strongmen for the regime, both in Damascus and in Kurdish population centers. |

This thread annihilates any position that would oppose remnant theology. Solid examples from everyone. God's chosen nation turned against Him, so He blinded them further so they could not see. He then, to refine and restore them, uses unbelieving nations (still those who chose unbelief first) to put them through the refiner's fire. In the end, Israel will be saved *and* judgment will be poured out on the unbeliever. What the nations intended and intend for evil, God will use it to accomplish salvation for many lives. For discussion purposes, I am curious about something, which is the entire reason I brought up discussion point #3. We had a discussion not too long ago on the CSWI Facebook board about whether or not The Holocaust as a judgment from God. And while I personally do not believe it is, it follows the SWRJR model (Sin -- > Warning --> Remnant --> Judgment --> Restoration) perfectly. The Jews were taken away as prisoners, evil had its way, yet there was left a remnant that would soon see the restoration of Israel.

Session 2 covers Isaiah chapters 6-10.
1.) How treasured this prophet must have been in the eyes of the Lord that he was afforded the opportunity to experience a vision in which he actually saw "the Lord of Hosts" sitting on a throne in His Temple.
2.) "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." The signature verse that paves the ground on the Missions field.
3.) I am reminded in the following verse of the saying, "Man plans, and God laughs." Man can scheme, cajole, devise, manipulate, deceive, and do whatever else he thinks that is part of "having it all figured out", but if it's not God's will, it "shall not stand."
Isa 7:6 - "Let us go up against Judah and trouble it, and let us make a gap in its wall for ourselves, and set a king over them, the son of Tabel" Isa 7:7 - thus says the Lord GOD: "It shall not stand, Nor shall it come to pass..."
4.)Isa 7:14 "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
You would be surprised at the number of Jews I've had discussions with who counter the notion of the virgin birth with a supposed mistranslation of "virgin" -- their definition being simply "a young girl".
