THE ENEMY OF THE JEWS

This past week Jews around the world observed the feast of Purim. The observance of this Jewish holy day is scriptural and goes back in history to the 5th century B.C. It’s a day set aside to commemorate the day when God delivered the Jews in the Persian Empire from an evil plot to exterminate them by a wicked, ambitious and power-hungry man named Haman who was a high-ranking counselor to Ahasuerus ( Xerxes I, ruler 485-465 B.C. ) the king of Persia. The story in detail is written in the Book of Esther in the Holy Bible. The reading of that book is part of the traditional Jewish observance of Purim. Although not Jewish myself I highly recommend it.
HAMAN
To briefly summarize, Haman had an intense hatred for Mordecai the Jew because Mordecai refused to bow before him whenever he passed by. Niether Haman nor the king himself knew at the time that Esther the Queen was Jewish and that Mordecai was her uncle who had raised her. Mordecai had charged Esther not to reveal her Jewish heritage to anyone ( Esther 2:10 ) probably out of fear that it might endanger her life if it had become known. It’s very likely that Jews were despised and discriminated against by some throughout the Persian empire at that time. The king was also not aware that Mordecai had previously exposed and foiled a plot against his own life. One night the king was troubled and could not sleep so he read from the chronicles of the kings of Persia. He then remembered what Mordecai had done and rewarded him. Haman was humiliated and enraged that by decree of the king that he had to give honor to Mordecai the Jew.
Haman’s hatred of Mordecai was not merely just a personality conflict with him but was rooted in a generations-old enmity toward all Jews. Haman was a direct descendant of Agag the king of the Amalekites who were one of the nations inhabiting the land of Caanan when the Israelites entered into the Promised Land after the exodus from Egypt and their 40 year wandering in the wilderness. The covetous prophet Baalam, hired by Balak the king of Moab to curse the Israelites, had prophesied to Balak that a future king of Israel would be greater than “ Agag “ ( Numbers 24:7 ) and refused to curse the people that God had blessed. The Amalekites made war continually against Israel and had killed many Israelites but Israel defeated them in battle during the days of King Saul who, in disobedience to God’s commandment to destroy them all, had spared Agag’s life. So Israel took Agag alive but Samuel the prophet executed judgement upon him by cutting him into pieces with a sword ( 1 Samuel 15:32-33 ) which is believed to have been in retribution for what the Amalekites had done in mutilating Israelite captives which they had taken ( according to rabbinic tradition ). So then it is probable that Haman hated the Jews for destroying his people and wanted to avenge the death of Agag. Haman is referred to as “ the Agagite “ 5 times in the Book of Esther.
Haman persuaded the king that it was in his best interest that all Jews in the Empire should be destroyed and talked him into making the decree which under the law of the Medes and Persians could not be altered once it was given. Haman had built a gallows at his home to personally hang Mordecai on. Mordecai when he learned of the decree came to Queen Esther and requested that she plead to the king on behalf of her people. Esther did so and risked her own life by going unsummoned into the presence of the king but he received her. Esther then invited the king and Haman to a banquet which she prepared for them. It was then that Esther exposed Haman’s plot. So Haman’s conspiracy against the Jews failed and the king ordered that Haman be hanged on the very gallows he had built himself for Mordecai the Jew. Hamans 10 sons were also hanged. Mordecai, on the other hand, was promoted to be the second ruler in the kingdom, the position briefly held by Haman. Since the king’s decree could not be changed he authorized the Jews to defend themselves against their enemies which came against them on the designated date which they successfully did.
Thus this wicked Haman has the dubious distinction of being called in the Word of God: “ THE ENEMY OF THE JEWS “ ( Esther 9:10 ). I believe that this story is in The Bible to serve as a warning by God to all future enemies of the Jews or other Hamans, so to speak, who would seek to exterminate the Jewish people.
Of course there have been been many more enemies of the Jews down through the centuries since Haman. Here are a few notable examples:
ADOLPH HITLER AND THE HOLOCAUST
The horrors of The Holocaust are well known and documented even though there are those, including world leaders like Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadenijad, who are in denial and say that it ever happened. There is no need to offer any grisley details about what happened to 6 million Jews in Europe during this period. It speaks for itself. The concentration camps and the ovens are still there to this day as a memorial and to serve as a reminder to future generations in the hope that this will prevent anything like it from ever happening again.
Hitler was heavily influenced in his own thinking by an anti-Jewish book entitled The Protocols of The Learned Elders of Zion which he promoted in his own writings. That demonically-inspired work is also the basis for a lot of the Zionist conspiracy theories that are being propagated in the world today. Hitler wrote these words in his own book Mein Kamf :
" The Jewish peril will be stamped out the moment the general public come into possession of...' The Protocols of The Learned Elders of Zion'...and understand it."

If the Third Reich had not fallen both books would no doubt have been required reading for German schoolchildren and in other nations under occupation by his armies. Schools in the Palestinian territories today in Israel are teaching children from an early age to hate the Jews. So it’s not surprising that one of the best-selling books in the Islamic world, though it is banned in Europe, is Adolph Hitler’s Mein Kampf. The enemies of the Jews, for the sake of their own souls, would do well to read the Word of God rather than the books on Adolph Hitler’s recommended reading list or any other book which is written to incite hatred of the Jews.
The Holocaust was intended by the Hitler and his henchmen to be the “ final solution to the Jewish question” the question being how to rid the world of the Jews.
Hitler himself committed suicide as the Allied forces closed in on him at the end of World War II. He may have cheated justice in this world for his crimes but we may be assured that he did not escape God’s judgment upon him. However, a few of his top officers were captured and sentenced to death by hanging after being convicted at the Nuremberg war crimes tribunals ( 1945-1946 ). One of them, Julius Streicher , who was nicknamed ’ The Beast of Franconia‘, in his last words screamed “ PURIM FEST 1946 ! Before that he had also defiantly yelled out “ HEIL HITLER!” to the witnesses present at his hanging as he stood on the scaffold. The editor and publisher of an anti-semitic newspaper in Germany, he once wrote a critical article against the feast of Purim. So he was very familiar with the story of Haman and obviously understood the parallels with his own judgment but still showed no remorse for his role in The Holocaust. In all 10 Nazi war criminals, including Streicher, were hanged that same day. Ironically, 10 is the same number of Haman’s sons that hanged with him. That number may or may not have been a coincidence. There are Jewish traditions which say that the hangings of Nazi war criminals which took place at Nuremberg was a fulfillment of a prophecy that Esther made herself and there are those who claim that it is found in hidden Bible codes in the Book of Esther.
Some of the Nazi war criminals managed to escape to other countries. However, one of them, Adolph Eichmann was abducted by the Israeli Mossad in Argentina, brought to Israel and sentenced to death in 1961 by an Israeli court. He likewise was hung the following year for his role in the genocide of millions of Jews during the Holocaust. It was the first and the only execution to date in the modern state of Israel.
So out of the ashes of the Holocaust the state of Israel was reborn in 1948 and Jews worldwide began to return in great numbers from the Diaspora to their historic homeland in fulfillment of God's prophetic Word. The enemies of the Jews today contemptously refer to them as “ Zionists “ but Zionism is ordained of God nonetheless. God Himself has put that inner yearning for Eretz Yisrael ( the land of Israel ) in the heart of the Jew. As horrible as The Holocaust was it was used of God to restore the nation of Israel in their own land.

SADDAM HUSSEIN
Consider the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein who was captured by American troops, tried in an Iraqi court for atrocities against his own people and was executed by hanging on December 30, 2006. Saddam Hussein played a major role in a 1968 military coup which brought his Ba’ath Party to power in Iraq by which he eventually became dictator. In 1969 the new revolutionary government ordered the multiple public hanging of 13 Jews on the false charges that they were spies. During the Persian Gulf War ( 1990-1991 ) he saw it as an occasion to launch an unprovoked attack of scud missles on Israel. However, his efforts to destroy the Jews came to nothing and his end was to die on the gallows, in the same manner of the Jews that the government of Iraq hung for no other reason other than that they were Jews and the very same judgment meted out upon wicked Haman the enemy of the Jews. However, rather than learning the lesson from Saddam’s example many in the Islamic world were inspired and now revere him as a martyr for the cause of their god. Ironically, Saddam Hussein was executed in Iraq on the same day of the Jewish calandar that Eichmann was sentenced to death on.
MAHMOUD AHMADINEJAD
Iran ( Persia ) is a nation that will play a major end time role, according to Bible prophecy, being one of the nations that will be part of an alliance that will attempt an invasion of Israel in the latter years ( Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39 ). Iran is unquestionably the most dangerous threat facing the state of Israel right now. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the current ruler of Iran is nothing at all like the Persian king Ahasureus who showed favor to the Jews in deference to the petition of Esther his queen whom God used to deliver the Jews from Haman’s conspiracy to exterminate them. In fact, after the fall of the Babylonian Empire to the Medes and Persians, all of the Persian kings mentioned by name in The Bible treated the Jews with favor. However, the president of Iran has made no secret of his intention of “wiping Israel off of the map” with a nuclear weapon. He will attempt it sooner or later, that is if he is not stopped from developing a nuclear arsenal, but like Haman what he thought to do to the Jews will be returned upon his own head. That is God’s way of dealing with the enemies of the Jews.
UNSEEN ENEMIES
Ahmadinejad, as was Haman, is under the influence of the territorial demonic spirit called the “ Prince of Persia “ ( Daniel 10:20 ) which was spoken of by an angel sent from God to the prophet Daniel during the reign of Cyrus The Great, king of Persia ( 550-529 B.C. ) The angel of God had been fighting with this evil spirit who without a doubt was attempting to prevent Cyrus from fulfilling Bible prophecy written about him by name 200 years before his lifetime ( Isaiah 44:28; Isaiah 45:1 ) and to give the decree to allow the Jews to return to the land of Israel and rebuild Jerusalem which had been destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon in 586 B.C. You see there is an unseen spiritual conflict taking place behind the scenes in all of this. Interestingly, there is an Iranian organization that has stated that Iran should employ a top secret defense tactic which they referred to as "assistance from the unseen world “against any nation that attacks their nuclear facilities. “ Assistance from the unseen world? “ Strange words but words that make a lot of sense in light of God’s Word, the Holy Bible.

ZIONIST CONSPIRACY THEORISTS
There are a lot of Zionist conspiracy theories being spread around all over the Internet right now. Basically, it is the notion that the Jews are plotting to takeover the whole world. A lot of people are being deceived by these lies and expressing their hatred of Israel. Many of these false accusations have been around for quite awhile being propagated primarily by Aryan white supremacists, neo-Nazi hate groups and radical Islamists. Unfortunately these ideas now appear to be gaining acceptance in the mainstream society and being circulated by others as well. It seems to have increased dramatically since the Israelis recently entered Gaza to fight the Islamic terrorist organization Hamas which has continued launching daily rocket attacks into Israeli towns and settlements. Some here in the U.S. believe that the Jews have infiltrated our government and are controlling it. They are blaming the Jews for the current worldwide financial crisis. One comment I read on one popular website said that all of the Jews in our government should be hanged. I was immediately reminded of Haman, Saddam Hussein and Adolph Eichmann. I am afraid for the person who wrote it because he may well end up dangling from a rope himself one day like the others. I may write a more detailed blog about Zionist conspiracy theories later on.
THE COMING ANTICHRIST
Hatred of Jews will continue and the enemies of Israel will abound until Yeshua ( Jesus ), returns to earth. The Antichrist who is prophesied to come in the end times preceding the Second Coming of Christ will also be an enemy of the Jews and will persecute them but in the beginning he will appear to be a friend by forging a peace treaty between Israel and her enemies in the Middle East ( Daniel 8:25, 9:27 ). The Jewish Temple will be rebuilt ( Revelation 11:1 ) but the Antichrist will enter into it and declare himself to be God ( 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 ). Many Jews will refuse to worship him and that’s when the persecution will begin. This will be Satan’s final attempt to destroy the Jews but the Lord will deliver them. Antichrist will be possessed and empowered by Satan himself. He will be a great orator and be given a “mouth speaking great things” ( Revelation 13:5 ). He will probably have a hypnotic power or mesmerizing effect on his hearers like Hitler did.

SATAN
The greatest enemy of the Jews and all humanity is Satan. Jesus Christ Himself referred to Satan as “ THE ENEMY “ ( Matthew 13:39; Luke 10:19 ). One reason among many reasons why I am a strong supporter of the state of Israel and stand with them is because, as a Christian, we have common enemies which seek to destroy us both.
It is the Wicked One who is the source of the slanders and lies of Zionist conspiracy theorists which turn people against the Jews and make them the scapegoats for all of the world’s problems. It is the Devil who incites anti-Jewish riots like Kristallnacht ( 1938 ) in Nazi Germany, the pogroms in Russia and the intifadas of Palestinian Arabs in Israel. Wherever you find Jews being assaulted, murdered and their properties and synagogues vandalized you can be certain that the Devil’s hand is in it. Satan has targeted the Jewish people for destruction. Why? Because Israel is God’s chosen people to bring forth the Messiah by whom all nations of the earth will be blessed. Satan failed to stop the birth of the messiah in Israel. He believes that if he can succeed in destroying Israel today then he can prevent the Second Coming of Christ. If he can do that then the covenants that God made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, with Moses and with King David concerning their seed and the land of Israel would be breached and discredited. However, God’s reputation in heaven and on earth is at stake and the souls of men are at stake so we can be sure that He will not allow that happen.
THE LESSONS OF HISTORY
History is full of wicked men like Haman who have sought to destroy God’s chosen people Israel and were destroyed themselves. The word “ Purim “ means “lots.” To cast lots in ancient times was the equivalent to throwing dice today. Haman may have used a lottery of some sort but we do know that Haman determined which date to set for his planned Jewish massacre with lots. It was a gamble he took and lost. To make yourself an enemy of the Jews is to gamble with your own life and your own soul. No power on earth can destroy the Jews. Any attempt by anyone to exterminate them is satanic in origin and is in opposition to God’s plans and purposes for the redemption of fallen humanity and His kingdom on earth. As the saying goes, those who don’t learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them and that certainly applies to the modern enemies of the Jews today.

ENEMIES OF GOD
The enemies of the Jews, past and present, were first the enemies of God but one doesn’t necessarily have to hate Jews to be an enemy of God. The truth is that until we are redeemed and saved we are all, both Jews and Gentiles, enemies of God in rebellion against Him and under condemnation. As a sinner and therefore an enemy of God in this world, the only way you can make peace with God ( Romans 5:1 ) and be reconciled to Him is by believing on the Name of His Son Yeshua Ha Maschiach ( Jesus the Messiah ) who died for you and by trusting in His blood sacrifice on the cross for the atonement and cleansing of your sins. If you are in Christ Jesus you are no longer under condemnation ( Romans 8:1 ). To accomplish God's work of redemption Jesus had to first leave Heaven and come to earth in the flesh and Jesus according to the flesh was a Jew. This wasn’t by accident but by God’s plan. Therefore, those who know and love God will by nature also love the Jewish people and those who become a friend of God through faith in Jesus Christ will also want to be a friend of Israel not an enemy.

Iran ( Persia ) is a nation that will play a major end time role, according to Bible prophecy, being one of the nations that will be part of an alliance that will attempt an invasion of Israel in the latter years ( Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39 ). Iran is unquestionably the most dangerous threat facing the state of Israel right now. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the current ruler of Iran is nothing at all like the Persian king Ahasureus who showed favor to the Jews in deference to the petition of Esther his queen whom God used to deliver the Jews from Haman’s conspiracy to exterminate them. In fact, after the fall of the Babylonian Empire to the Medes and Persians, all of the Persian kings mentioned by name in The Bible treated the Jews with favor. However, the president of Iran has made no secret of his intention of “wiping Israel off of the map” with a nuclear weapon. He will attempt it sooner or later, that is if he is not stopped from developing a nuclear arsenal, but like Haman what he thought to do to the Jews will be returned upon his own head. That is God’s way of dealing with the enemies of the Jews.
UNSEEN ENEMIES
Ahmadinejad, as was Haman, is under the influence of the territorial demonic spirit called the “ Prince of Persia “ ( Daniel 10:20 ) which was spoken of by an angel sent from God to the prophet Daniel during the reign of Cyrus The Great, king of Persia ( 550-529 B.C. ) The angel of God had been fighting with this evil spirit who without a doubt was attempting to prevent Cyrus from fulfilling Bible prophecy written about him by name 200 years before his lifetime ( Isaiah 44:28; Isaiah 45:1 ) and to give the decree to allow the Jews to return to the land of Israel and rebuild Jerusalem which had been destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon in 586 B.C. You see there is an unseen spiritual conflict taking place behind the scenes in all of this. Interestingly, there is an Iranian organization that has stated that Iran should employ a top secret defense tactic which they referred to as "assistance from the unseen world “against any nation that attacks their nuclear facilities. “ Assistance from the unseen world? “ Strange words but words that make a lot of sense in light of God’s Word, the Holy Bible.

ZIONIST CONSPIRACY THEORISTS
There are a lot of Zionist conspiracy theories being spread around all over the Internet right now. Basically, it is the notion that the Jews are plotting to takeover the whole world. A lot of people are being deceived by these lies and expressing their hatred of Israel. Many of these false accusations have been around for quite awhile being propagated primarily by Aryan white supremacists, neo-Nazi hate groups and radical Islamists. Unfortunately these ideas now appear to be gaining acceptance in the mainstream society and being circulated by others as well. It seems to have increased dramatically since the Israelis recently entered Gaza to fight the Islamic terrorist organization Hamas which has continued launching daily rocket attacks into Israeli towns and settlements. Some here in the U.S. believe that the Jews have infiltrated our government and are controlling it. They are blaming the Jews for the current worldwide financial crisis. One comment I read on one popular website said that all of the Jews in our government should be hanged. I was immediately reminded of Haman, Saddam Hussein and Adolph Eichmann. I am afraid for the person who wrote it because he may well end up dangling from a rope himself one day like the others. I may write a more detailed blog about Zionist conspiracy theories later on.
THE COMING ANTICHRIST
Hatred of Jews will continue and the enemies of Israel will abound until Yeshua ( Jesus ), returns to earth. The Antichrist who is prophesied to come in the end times preceding the Second Coming of Christ will also be an enemy of the Jews and will persecute them but in the beginning he will appear to be a friend by forging a peace treaty between Israel and her enemies in the Middle East ( Daniel 8:25, 9:27 ). The Jewish Temple will be rebuilt ( Revelation 11:1 ) but the Antichrist will enter into it and declare himself to be God ( 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 ). Many Jews will refuse to worship him and that’s when the persecution will begin. This will be Satan’s final attempt to destroy the Jews but the Lord will deliver them. Antichrist will be possessed and empowered by Satan himself. He will be a great orator and be given a “mouth speaking great things” ( Revelation 13:5 ). He will probably have a hypnotic power or mesmerizing effect on his hearers like Hitler did.

SATAN
The greatest enemy of the Jews and all humanity is Satan. Jesus Christ Himself referred to Satan as “ THE ENEMY “ ( Matthew 13:39; Luke 10:19 ). One reason among many reasons why I am a strong supporter of the state of Israel and stand with them is because, as a Christian, we have common enemies which seek to destroy us both.
It is the Wicked One who is the source of the slanders and lies of Zionist conspiracy theorists which turn people against the Jews and make them the scapegoats for all of the world’s problems. It is the Devil who incites anti-Jewish riots like Kristallnacht ( 1938 ) in Nazi Germany, the pogroms in Russia and the intifadas of Palestinian Arabs in Israel. Wherever you find Jews being assaulted, murdered and their properties and synagogues vandalized you can be certain that the Devil’s hand is in it. Satan has targeted the Jewish people for destruction. Why? Because Israel is God’s chosen people to bring forth the Messiah by whom all nations of the earth will be blessed. Satan failed to stop the birth of the messiah in Israel. He believes that if he can succeed in destroying Israel today then he can prevent the Second Coming of Christ. If he can do that then the covenants that God made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, with Moses and with King David concerning their seed and the land of Israel would be breached and discredited. However, God’s reputation in heaven and on earth is at stake and the souls of men are at stake so we can be sure that He will not allow that happen.
THE LESSONS OF HISTORY
History is full of wicked men like Haman who have sought to destroy God’s chosen people Israel and were destroyed themselves. The word “ Purim “ means “lots.” To cast lots in ancient times was the equivalent to throwing dice today. Haman may have used a lottery of some sort but we do know that Haman determined which date to set for his planned Jewish massacre with lots. It was a gamble he took and lost. To make yourself an enemy of the Jews is to gamble with your own life and your own soul. No power on earth can destroy the Jews. Any attempt by anyone to exterminate them is satanic in origin and is in opposition to God’s plans and purposes for the redemption of fallen humanity and His kingdom on earth. As the saying goes, those who don’t learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them and that certainly applies to the modern enemies of the Jews today.

ENEMIES OF GOD
The enemies of the Jews, past and present, were first the enemies of God but one doesn’t necessarily have to hate Jews to be an enemy of God. The truth is that until we are redeemed and saved we are all, both Jews and Gentiles, enemies of God in rebellion against Him and under condemnation. As a sinner and therefore an enemy of God in this world, the only way you can make peace with God ( Romans 5:1 ) and be reconciled to Him is by believing on the Name of His Son Yeshua Ha Maschiach ( Jesus the Messiah ) who died for you and by trusting in His blood sacrifice on the cross for the atonement and cleansing of your sins. If you are in Christ Jesus you are no longer under condemnation ( Romans 8:1 ). To accomplish God's work of redemption Jesus had to first leave Heaven and come to earth in the flesh and Jesus according to the flesh was a Jew. This wasn’t by accident but by God’s plan. Therefore, those who know and love God will by nature also love the Jewish people and those who become a friend of God through faith in Jesus Christ will also want to be a friend of Israel not an enemy.
